Kicking off the second tournament of the season, the varsity girls’ soccer team tied 1-1 against College Park with a goal shot by junior Alyssa Proulx.

“Scoring the goal to tie the game was really exciting, but it was my teammates who worked really hard to put me in a scoring position,” Proulx said.

At the start of the second day of the tournament, the team brought in a 3-1 victory against North Crowley. Senior Lauren Denton made the first two goals while senior Mallory Davidson shot the third one.

“We’ve been working really hard in practice to play as a team and not as individuals,” Proulx said. “Bonding outside of practice has really helped us play better together on the field.”

Despite motivation from the previous win, the Lady Mavs faced a 0-2 loss in the final game against Belton. As a result of the tournament, the team’s season record stands at 2-3-1.

“Overall, the tournament went really well,” Proulx said. “We are still working on transitioning as a unit from offense to defense, so the tournament was a great opportunity to figure out what kind of formation works best for us.”
