Starting off district play against Hendrickson, the softball team faced a harsh 1-17 loss at the hands of the Lady Hawks.
“Hendrickson hit the ball very well but they also capitalized on our errors,” coach Terri Pierce said.
One of the highlights was sophomore Kaley Brown going 2-2 at the plate with a single and a double.
Despite the fact that the Lady Mavericks suffered a hard defeat ending the game with five hits and two errors compared to Hendrickson’s 11 hits, the girls still faced the next competitors with their heads held high.
“Their pitcher was also able to shut us down at the plate when we had runners on the bases,” Pierce said. “We are a young team that will make errors.”
