XC Regionals: Bean Goes to State as Individual Runner
The girls’ cross country team raced at the regional meet at Grand Prairie Oct. 26, marking the end of the season for most of the team.
“We trained really hard for this meet,” junior Sierra Hammond said. “We ran for teammates who were not there.”
McNeil did not make it to state as a team. However, senior Kate Bean advanced as an individual runner. Bean placed 18th overall, but within the top 10 who individually go to state.
“I feel pretty good about going to state,” Bean said. “I pushed myself and made my personal record.”
As this was the last meet for the cross country team, many of the runners will be preparing to run for track.
“I want to improve my mile time because it will help the team and my own personal time,” sophomore Abbey Hobbs said.
The UIL State Championship will be held on Nov. 7 at Old Settlers Park.
“I hopefully will be able to make my personal record again.” Bean said.
