One of the largest tournaments of the wrestling season was the 2017 Craig T Grace Central Texas Tournament.

Junior Tyler Barker placed second and scored 28 team points. Other boys who scored team points included junior Jonathan Alvarez, who scored 6, and sophomore Gerard Villaverde, who scored 9.5 points.

“I was neutral on how I did in the tournament, but I think this tournament was a good wrestling experience for us,” Villaverde said. “It allowed for us to get some mat time and just wrestle.”

Although most of the placing has not been recorded yet for the girls portion of the tournament,, some Lady Mavs also scored team points. Senior Ruth Wolfryd scored 8 team points, senior Kathleen Hartman scored 16 points, sophomore Emily Evans scored 8 team points, senior Holly Hammett scored 14, and senior Emily Hall scored 7 team points.

The next wrestling event is going to be at the DELCO center on Friday, February 5th, 2017.
