McNeil Girls Golf- Season Start
McNeil Girls Golf off to a good start
How’d they do?
The girls golf teams had a good start to their seasons when they began playing tournaments the week of Oct. 1.
Varsity competed in the Hays Fall Classic and finished fifth of 20 teams.
“Because McNeil has a consistently good girls golf team, we knew we would be competing against some of the better teams, such as Westlake and Lake Travis,” sophomore Leah Loughran said. “Finishing top five was a pleasant surprise, though.”
Junior Ariana Hosek led the Mavs as she finished 12th out of 112 individual players. Junior Abby Powell, sophomore Katie Lusby, Loughran and freshman Jordan Davis all helped the team with their impressive finish.

The Blue team ended up doing well, finishing second out of eight teams at the Westlake-Barbara Puett Classic. They were led by junior Ellie Winters who ended up finishing fourth of 38 separate competitors.
The winning of silver was also assisted by junior Amanda Lewis, freshman Mireia Bustamante, freshman Randi Hulse and freshman Su Jae Lee.

With an impressive start and top 5 finishes for both teams, I’d hope we’d all be excited to see how the team does for the rest of the season.
