On Thursday, Oct. 12 the varsity girls cross country team competed in the district meet at Old Settlers Park. The team placed third out of all the teams at the district race.
No individual runners placed top ten or medaled, but the varsity team still advanced to regionals.
This course was overall flat and didn’t have too many hard parts.
“It felt really long I think because there was a loop after the first mile,” Junior Scout Bradley said.
Last year the team was seven points away from making regionals, so this year everyone was very excited to make it.
“I honestly had no idea if we would make it while I was racing,” Bradley said. “When I figured out I was so happy for the team because I know this is what we have been working for all season. I was so proud of everyone and myself.”
The team has practiced a lot to get to this moment.
“I was injured for three weeks of the season but when I came back I went to practice so I could get back in shape and be there for the team,” Bradley said. “It prepared me because I knew everyone on the team wanted this.”
The varsity girls team will compete at the regional meet which will be held in Corpus Christi, on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
