The UIL Cheer competition will take place this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 6. All RRISD high schools are sending their cheer teams off to Fort Worth where they will compete against over 50 teams. The competition routines consist of a band chant, crowd-leading cheer and the school’s fight song. The top 20 teams advance to finals where they’ll perform the same routine with the addition of a situational cheer.
The McNeil cheerleaders learned their band chant and crowd-leading back in August. This is the last major performance for cheer in the 2023-2024 school year. There will be a sendoff for the cheer team tomorrow when they load onto the bus at 10:30 a.m.
