On Friday, Feb. 2, girl’s varsity soccer suffered a 0-3 loss to the Round Rock Dragons at home. While sophomore goalie Sofia Rogers had 18 saves, the sheer volume of the Dragons’ shots resulted in an eventual loss for the Lady Mavs.
“It was really hard, conceding the goals specifically],” Rogers said. “Especially losing over Round Rock [rather] than Westwood, because we really wanted to win that game.”
Rogers believes the team has grown a lot since the last time they played Round Rock and wanted to prove they were better.
“It sucked, we knew Round Rock was going to be a pretty big challenge to go against, but we felt like we did pretty good,” freshman Dayana Tellez said. “Last year we lost 7-0 and this year it was only 3-0, which is still a tough loss, but we did better.”
