This year, McNeil sports departments came together to upgrade the sports facilities. Most recently, they purchased a new digital scoreboard for the athletics departments.
“We feel like our facilities are a little bit behind where they should be and as a result, we are trying to update the facilities to make it have a different feel,” Assistant Athletic Coordinator and Girls Basketball Coach Matthew Butler said. “So the digital board and scoreboard gives us a lot of potential to be able to use a lot of cool graphics and make the volleyball games or basketball games have a fun vibe as opposed to a quiet game.”
As the volleyball season ends and the basketball season begins, Butler plans for the digital board to make its first official debut.
“It will be able to project all of our introductions onto the board so each player will be able to spin a ball, shoot a ball, or dribble, or whatever they want to do while it shows their picture.” Butler said. “It will have graphics up there and can even have background music. So pretty much all of our pre-game introductions can be done through the board and we will never really have to have an announcer for the pre-game.”
