Varsity swim just completed their first intrasquad meet on Sept. 28. Before districts start, every year, members of the McNeil swim team compete against each other in a Blue vs. Green meet.
“There are four captains and those captains got split into two groups, each group consisting of one girl captain and one boy captain,” junior captain Camila Mota said.“And those two groups both drafted swimmers one at a time.”
This meet was held at the Round Rock Aquatics Center from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“We had our events in a normal order as we usually do in other highschool meets but since this was a McNeil-only meet the meet ran a lot quicker and swimmers had less breaks between events,” Mota said. “In the end, the announcers tallied up the points from each team to determine the winner.”
The green team won this year, with Mota and senior Josh Li being the captains of the green team.
“Overall the two teams did really well,” junior Luke Fell said. “There were some people in challenging events and they really preserved through. Everybody had a really good time and there was a lot of school spirit. A lot of people are cheering on their teammates which we love to see.”
The next swim meet will be held on Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Round Rock Aquatics Center.
