Varsity football played their sixth district game on Friday, Oct. 25 winning 46-28. With last Friday being the Mav’s third win of this year they need two more wins during the rest of the season to make the playoffs.
“I had 13 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns so it felt good to have a big game like last week,” junior wide receiver Zach Christie said. “Jadon played well too, he was 26 of 31 for 315 passing yards and three touchdowns.”
With Jadon Sultz back in as quarterback after a hand injury the Mavs offense was able to play to their full potential.
“Jadon is our starting quarterback and Jarell prefers to play wide receiver and he definitely stepped up, but with Jadon back, it allowed us to perform better,” junior receiver Aden Taylor said. “ We had Jarell back at receiver, our passing and running game was a lot more open, it was a threat both ways and we performed much better with Jadon as a quarterback.”
These stats summed up the game for how the Mavs offense performed last week along with sophomore outside linebacker Tyson Cox making a great hit on the 4th down to get the stop during the second quarter.
“This play was a screen to the running back,” Cox said. “We had been going over that play all week, and earlier in the game Cedar Ridge had scored off of it once I saw that they lined up in the same formation again I knew what to do.”
