Competitors race to the National Honor Society officers with their responses to a trivia question.

Tables set up in rows, students excitedly buzzing, snacks everywhere. It’s not just another lunch in the cafeteria, though. It’s the third annual National Honor Society Trivia Night.

NHS hosted Trivia Night on Nov. 10 after school. This year, the theme was #BeAHero.

I loved how spirited everyone was and how much they participated and got into it,” NHS sponsor Lindsey Phillips said. “I also love how more and more teachers are participating.”

Each team could have up to six members, including one teacher. Topics for the questions ranged from “Random Knowledge” to all things Kevin Bacon. The top three teams received trophies, decorated with mini capes.

In first place was the Smart Cookies, with English teacher Eryn McGuinness.

Second place went to The Fontastics, journalism teacher Theresa Proctor and yearbook students.

The Honeybuns, who competed without a teacher, received the third place trophy.

For the first time, there was also a costume contest, which the Purple Party People won.

“NHS is so appreciative of everyone who supported us,” Phillips said. “You could really feel the school spirit and sense of community in the cafeteria that night.”
