The 2015 winter guard season closed with great accomplishments. The team has won an award in each one of their competitions, and on April 11 at Texas A&M. the team placed third.

“The best competition this year was the first one because we got second place and were all really excited,” sophomore Katie Pickerill said.

All of the talents that the team has worked on, from spinning flags to throwing sabers, were displayed in an awe-inspiring presentation.

“This year’s show has given me a chance to grow as a performer,” junior Preston Winston said.

The theme of the show was entitled Severus and Stone, set to the song by Radical Face. With the beautiful forest floor and brown Riding Hood costumes, the mood for the show was set.

“I love the tone of the music, it’s a really nice style,” sophomore Andie Mau said.

There was so much that went into preparing for the shows, from practicing for during class and hours after school to putting on the makeup before heading to perform. All of the elements made the show great.

“My favorite part about guard is when we first get a costume, music or makeup to our show because it’s really exciting and a moment that we’re able to think about all the cool things we’re going to do in the show,” Mau said.

The team will be performing at Illusions from May 1-2.
