Mavericks outrun the Raiders

Until the second half, Rouse seemed to have the game in their pocket. However the Mavericks turned the game around by quickly scoring 24 points in the second half. McNeil walked away with a satisfying last play field goal victory of 45-42 over the Rouse Raiders.
“It feels good to lead my team to victory,” junior Jaden Lepisto said. “To think that one touchdown less and we would have lost the game. Coach is pushing us really hard to get us ready for the payoffs. Everyone’s getting really pumped up.”
Lepisto earned the Mavericks a single point against Rouse contributing to the neck and neck score.
“Offense played well together. I only scored because we were well setup,” junior Justin Ward said. “It feels good to be a junior since I still have another year to get better.”
Ward scored three touchdowns but continued to give the credit to his team.
“I don’t care who on our team scores,” Ward said. “As long as we’re working together and playing hard.”
The Mavericks next take on the Pflugerville Panthers for the senior night at Dragon Stadium at 7 p.m.
