Not So Little Girl

Wary eyes stare out the kitchen window

Screams of hate ring in her ears

Little girl watching mommy and daddy

Except she’s not so little after all these years

Tears become fury in the girl’s eyes

Tired of the fighting

Tired of the lies

“I hate Daddy”

She whispers sometimes

never realizing what her words imply

But maybe there is a god somewhere

because he heard these words

and mistook them as a prayer
