Mercury #17

From the beginning, we all enter the world the same.

An embryo, free to hope and exist in a world of plight.

We start off young, vulnerable, yet free from blame.

We glimpse into the infinite universe, inspired to reach for the bright.

We all have our place in the world, and we need to find it.

Beyond the womb, we grown to full measure.

The world is our oyster, to which we yield our own treasure.

From Childhood to Adolescence, we grow towards adulthood.

Our intelligence only grows, our wisdom in the lacking.

We stand tall in opposition, in hopes to send our foes packing.

As an adolescent, I held truth and belonging to myself in the cruel inescapable void that is life.

What once was has changed, with the pestilence and fumes of a chrome.

I miss my former self, but have to move on.
