There is only one word for prom 2015: “promtastic.”

As prom approached, I found myself less excited about going. By Friday, I was wondering why I was even going. I expected a day of drama and other prom stereotypes on Saturday.

By the time my friends and I got to the Bob Bullock Museum, my attitude had changed. Prom ended up being a wonderful evening, hanging out with my friends and having a great time dancing.

The best thing about prom was the overall vibe. Everyone seemed to have a blast. The dance floor was always occupied, at some points everyone at prom was dancing.

“This year’s prom was great,” junior Noelle Kendziora said. “The vibe of prom was amazing.”

Prom was better than I could have imagined and it far surpassed all of the negative expectations I had had for it.

“Being able to spend time with my friends made prom really fun,” senior Kyla Morris said . “I had a very memorable evening.”

It wasn’t the venue that made the evening. The Bob Bullock Museum was an elegant venue but it won’t ruin prom to not be held there next year. The students made prom memorable.

There are a few changes that could be made to make prom better. Primarily, the music could have been more diverse. There were only two types of songs: country and club. This is fine but the music selection could have reflected McNeil’s students better.

“The music selection was kind of boring and all sounded the same,” sophomore Sean Askew said.
