The performing arts departments all have leadership teams, but not every department has the same leadership roles. However, a leadership role that they all have in common is presidents.
Senior Maddie Cregar is the President of Mav Theater. Cregar’s role as president is to manage the leadership team, assist the directors, and help run and plan events. Cregar has been in theater since sixth grade and has had many other leadership roles in theater over the years. Her sophomore year, she was morale chair, and in her junior year, she was webmaster.
“I wanted to be president because theater has given me so much and I wanted to give back to it.” Cregar said.
Senior Rushil Jacob is the president of Mav Band. Jacob’s role as president is to give speeches before competitions and football games and plan events with the band council. He is also the percussion captain this year and he was the drumline captain last year. Jacob started playing percussion in sixth grade and began playing the snare drum his sophomore year.
“I wanted to be president because I knew that the role of president is to share your ideas with everyone,” Jacob said. “I felt like I had a lot of good ideas to help motivate us that I wanted to share.”
Senior viola player Isaiah Kim is the president of Mav Orchestra, and he has been in orchestra since 6th grade. He was a general officer his sophomore year and he was vice president his junior year. His role as president is to help lead the orchestra through social events, help orchestra director Justin Anderson with anything he needs, and strengthen the community.
“I wanted to be president because orchestra has meant a lot to me,” Kim said. “It’s been a really special community for me because I have made so many amazing and lasting friendships. It’s been an honor to give back and make orchestra special for other people.”
Mav Choir has co-presidents, seniors Timothy Li and Ariana Brito. Their job as presidents is to oversee the other leadership teams, which are logistics, socials, and media. Li has been in choir since fourth grade, and he was an officer in the logistics team his junior year.
“I wanted to be president because choir is an amazing program,” Li said. “We are all like a big family so I really wanted to give back to it.”
Ariana Brito has been singing since she was very young but joined choir in sixth grade. In addition to being president, she was also a socials team officer her junior year.
“I wanted to be president because I really wanted to better the program, get more involved and introduce new ideas to the program, which I feel like being in this position has really helped me do,” Brito said. “I love the choir program and hope that more people join.”
