‘Frozen’ Melts People’s Hearts

Disney’s newest animated movie ‘Frozen’ is out, and is a must see.

Disney’s newest animated princess movie Frozen came into theaters Nov 27. The movie has cute, inspiring characters, a capturing plot, and important themes in life. This Disney movie doesn’t have you predicting every move, but contains plot twists.

In the movie there are two princesses, Elsa and Anna, who live in Arendelle, who start off as best friends, but become separated as Elsa gets used to her ice powers. Hans is the charming man wanting to marry Anna who shifts the plot causing Elsa to reveal her ice powers. When Elsa becomes the rampant ice queen, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven become major characters in the movie. Olaf is a snowman, who teaches what love looks like, someone who will melt for you and you will melt for them. Kristoff and his reindeer Sven are an extension of that love, as they sacrifice their time to take Anna up the snowy mountain.

The first conflict is Elsa shutting Anna out; how will the two become friends again? Will Anna and Hans get married? Then when Elsa runs off and Anna goes after her, will Anna succeed in bringing Elsa back to stop the storm in Arendelle?

While we learn about love, from Olaf we learn about the importance of family bonds. Throughout the movie Anna knocks on Elsa’s door and continues to love her, even though the door repeatedly stays closed. The door always being closed shows the theme of being shut out, and how it makes people feel.

The movie draws ideas from the book The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen, a Scandinavian writer. The Scandinavian roots are shown in the clothing and art throughout the movie.

Besides embedding the pretty clothing, the animators provided a variety of ice sculptures. They included chandeliers, stairs and fountains of ice. The graphics in the movie were beautiful, from the castles to the mountains.

Frozen is an adorable movie to watch this holiday season. I enjoyed the laughing moments and the aw moments. This is not your typical Disney princess movie, but it is a must see.
