The Haunted Half Marathon in Pflugerville, Texas was held on Oct. 28. The course of this race was 13 miles long. The course was primarily on pavement and took the runners through a field, over some bridges and across roads. The half marathon had the runners run through four times there and back, totaling eight times through the course.
A couple of high points of this race were the beautiful scenery, where we ran over some small streams and through big open meadows. There was also a petting zoo that we ran past with goats, chickens and even a guinea hen. Another high point was how the racers were all very encouraging and helped push the other runners to finish the race.
A main low point of the race was the repetitiveness of it all. Since it was the same scenery eight times over, it was hard to run that much and feel like you were seeing the same things over and over again, so it got very boring.
If this race were to be improved, it would be nice to maybe extend the course for the half marathon so runners only run there and back without repeating it four times.
After running the race, it got rated and it was a 5/10 from Olivia, 4/10 from Scout and 2/10 from Daniela, which averages out to be about a 4/10.
