Falling Out Of Love
there is beauty in falling out of love
your universe becomes someone else’s
you see galaxies in their eyes and a future in their palms
there is beauty in all of it
suddenly, they’re gone
it hurts in places you’ve never felt before
the pain colors every little thing
ever little thing you know
the way you can’t taste food
music fills the ears but not the heart
laughing comes from the throat not the belly
it is ugly for awhile
Then, one night walking home
or sitting at your window
you look to the sky
you see galaxies
millions of stars shining upon the sky
and you feel small, oh so small
but important, because you are there in that moment
you have the privilege to watch the stars shine
Stars exist in thousands of years
some long gone and some not so long gone
some still burn bright
brighter than before
you the ordinary broken-hearted you
gets to gaze upon their light
and you begin to heal slowly
oh so slowly
dreams begin to fill your night
you can see a future again
happiness for yourself and in yourself
in your own dreams
big and bright and beautiful
a little bit frightening they are
you fall out of love slowly
oh so slowly
out of love you fall with this other person
this other universe
this other future
you fall in love with yourself
and how beautiful it is
the most marvelous thing
watching you discover yourself
depending on your own strength
it is the most beautiful thing
watching a star grow into a universe
