The movie Zootopia

Mystery, wit and animals. It is this combination that produced a fun and fantastic movie for all ages.

Zootopia came out on March 4, ranking number one in the weekend’s box office and there is no question why. It features a rabbit and a fox, prey and predator, “hustling” each other as they work together to solve a mystery which causes restlessness within the city.

With the inclusion of various animals and their interactions, the movie presents social

issues visible in our society today such as racism and the problematic ideology behind it. Throughout the movie, individual animals and the animal society as a whole are conflicted with these issues and try to find a solution to it; the movie ends revealing how – despite the difference in species, predator, or prey – every animal is equal and can and will behave the same.

Furthermore, the mystery adds to the uniqueness of the movie. Trying to figure out why animals are going crazy grasps the audience’s attention and doesn’t let it go by providing different leads. Also adding to the effect of the movie, Zootopia incorporates everything in the movie; there are no filler scenes.

To top it off, Zootopia presents how dreams can be achieved despite societal pressures. The rabbit, Hopps, finally achieved her dream of being the first bunny cop although her own parents, society, even the officers at the police station where she works tell her that her dream can never come true because she is a rabbit, but she struggles and proves that she can succeed as a cop.

Zootopia presents social issues through a gripping mystery with humor to produce a good movie that can connect to everyone.
