Challenge Sponsored by Library to Keep Students Reading
As an effort to keep students reading during the break, the library is hosting a summer reading challenge. Students who participate will create a google slideshow for each book they read in hopes of receiving a prize.
“Our main goal is to get Mavs reading for fun,” Librarian Laura Glaser-Falli said.
The slideshows will be posted on the library website over the summer as recommendations for anyone looking for a good book. Students who have registered to take part in the challenge are invited to a kick-off party on June 1.
“We just want kids to read more for fun,” Librarian Amelia Lewis said. “There is nothing better than reading a scary story in the late hours of the night and turning off the lights, wondering what kind of creepy crawlers are lurking under your bed. Or reading a book that by the end leaves you sobbing and reaching for chocolate and dying to talk with a friend about what they thought about the book.”
Students interested in participating should stop by the library for more information.
Your donation will support the student journalists of McNeil High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
