“We are excited for this production and have been advertising through social media and posters,” sophomore Gresha Kathayat who plays in the chorus said.

The cast and crew contributed to the creation of the props and senior Claire Cheney (plays Donna in the musical) choreographed many of the songs.

I think the best part about Mamma Mia has been the fun atmosphere around the show and the fact that I get to be a mom (Donna) on stage as well as a cast mom off stage.

— Claire Cheney

“I think the best part about Mamma Mia has been the fun atmosphere around the show and the fact that I get to be a mom (Donna) on stage as well as a cast mom off stage,” Cheney said.

The musical first premiered in the Prince Edward Theatre on April 6, 1999. Later in 2008, the musical was produced into a movie and made $615.7 million worldwide within the first year. Its popularity was primarily due to the wide variety of music from ABBA.

“No other show has this amount of music, and it’s music that everyone knows the words to,” Cheney said.

Synopsis: This iconic and comedic musical is staged around a young woman named Sophie Sheridan eager to get married and her supportive, independent single mom Donna. But the plot twists when Sophie invites 3 of Donna’s ex-lovers to the wedding in search of her father whom she never met. Purchase your tickets now to see how the events unfold.
