From politics to the Coronavirus, there has been a lot going on. Here is your update on major news so far this week.

State of the Union-

President Donald Trump delivered the annual State of the Union address in a joint session of Congress in the House of Representatives Tuesday, Feb. 4. President Trump focused on the economy and the impeachment trial was not mentioned.

Iowa caucus-

The 2020 election process began Monday, Feb. 4 with the Iowa Caucus. Due to problems with a new system and inconsistencies in the data, the Democratic Committee did not begin releasing results until the following afternoon, and the full results were not released until later in the week. Mayor Pete Buttigieg took the lead followed by Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. 

Impeachment Trial Results-

The impeachment trial wrapped up Feb. 5 with an acquittal. The votes were mostly along party lines with only one Republican, Senator Mitt Romney, voting to convict Trump of abuse of power. The early end came after the Senate voted not to allow new witnesses. 

Coronavirus-

The Coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan City, China and spread from there with cases being confirmed in more than 25 countries. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention declared the outbreak a public health emergency on Jan. 30. There have been ll confirmed cases of the virus in five states in the US, and measures have been taken in regards to travel to stop the spread of the virus in the US. Greta Thunberg-

Seventeen year old climate activist Greta Thunberg was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. This is her second nomination, and Thunberg was also the Time 2019 person of the year.
