The McNeil Hosa team traveled to Galveston to compete at the HOSA State Conference. With 14 state qualifiers, the team had seven Barbara James Awardees. Altogether, the students have volunteered in healthcare centers for over 2000 hours which not only allowed them to assist patients and healthcare providers but also gave them insight into new healthcare careers and opportunities. They also had five international competition qualifiers with many qualifying in more than one event. From Human Growth Development to identifying healthcare issues, the HOSA students have excelled in their health-based knowledge expanding their repertoire of learning. They will take on internationals as a chapter in June.
“For the Barbara James Service Award, I was recognized for my healthcare volunteering at St. David’s Medical Center,” senior Sahiti Chintarlapalli said. “Based on my 110.97 hours, I was honored with the bronze level of honor for my summer volunteering.”
