The first NHS meeting of the year was this Tuesday, November 5th, 2024. It was an exclusive meeting for new members recently inducted into the organization. Over 50 members joined and are ready to actively participate in this society.
“I am excited to be a new member of NHS,” junior NHS inductee Megan Denny said. “I’ve always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society and be a part of something that recognizes hard-working students.”
To remain apart of this organization, members must accumulate a certain amount of points each semester.
“In our first meeting, we learned that the points we need to earn are based on helping our community and the environment around us,” junior NHS inductee Wynne Trevino said, “We have some opportunities to earn points coming up, including Trivia Night and Brown Santa.”
Many students join NHS because of the opportunities it offers such as its view to college admissions and the volunteer work they participate in.
“I am excited to be a part of NHS because there are a lot of volunteer opportunities within the organization,” junior NHS inductee Andy Quarnaccio said. “It is a good look at college applications. I can’t wait for my first year of NHS!”
