Restless Leg Tour, Worth Every Penny

On Friday, Oct. 13, I went to the Restless Leg Tour featuring Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. The show was at Bass Concert Hall and my tickets were on the mezzanine level. I spent just over 200 dollars for two tickets, but was it worth it?

The show started with a Golden Globes set up, Fey and Poehler were wearing sparkly ball gowns and doing a thank you speech while also introducing and opening the show. This part was pretty funny and made me excited for the show.

Fey and Poehler expressed how they have been friends for 30 years but don’t remember how they met, so they then did a stand-up improv on how they “think” they met. They came on stage wearing different outfits. Both were in clothes that portrayed them as younger, like pigtails and skirts. They proceeded to set the scene by saying where they went to college and started the improv piece. This part was effortlessly hilarious and they really put in a lot of effort and did the most for their improv.

After improv, they changed clothes again into business casual and did my favorite part, which was the weekend update. This bit alone made the money worth it as I love the weekend update on SNL and it was amazing to see it live. They talked about and joked about current events and brought a special guest, Fred Armisen, to do a bit on accents around America. I love Fred Armisen and think he is hilarious and he exceeded my expectations.

Fey and Poehler then each took a turn doing stand-up. Poehler went first, her bit was all over the place. At one point she talked about being old and at another point she talked about traveling, but most of it related to her age. Overall she was very funny and enjoyable. Fey went on and talked about how expensive it was to be a woman. She talked about multiple things she could buy had she not spent the money she had on pads. Tina’s skit was pretty funny and short which I really appreciated because she was able to keep me entertained the whole time.

They closed the show with a Q&A using questions the audience submitted before the show at the merch booth before the show. Although this part was still funny it was slightly boring and just felt like a time filler. They ended the show by singing their own version of a song from Wicked but slightly altered so they “didn’t have to pay for it.”

Overall, this show was so worth the money I paid and I would definitely go again. Even though I didn’t really know them, it was still very funny, enjoyable and a great way to spend a Friday night.
