Girls’ golf wins Cedar Park Invitational

The girls golf team began its season with a bang, emerging victorious at the Cedar Park invitational Oct. 21.

The victory, however, was no walk in the park. The team had to overcome the adversity of losing starter Leilani McDaniel to injury. The suspense mounted as team members watched their counterparts, wondering whether the adversity was too much to overcome.

“We play 18 holes, then sit there and wait,” senior Nicole Neves said. “I was nervous to see how the fourth girl would do, because it all depended on it.”

The competition was no breeze, either, as talented teams from all across the district came to participate.

“We were most worried about Stony Point and Westlake,” senior Kaylie Ivester said. “There were lots of big competitors.”
