Girls’ Soccer Begins with Mixed Results at The Woodlands Tournament
Despite the freezing weather and even bouts of rain, the varsity girls’ soccer team still began the season with The Woodlands Tournament, posting a 0-1 loss against O’Connor.
“I thought we played well as a team despite the freezing weather,” senior Mallory Davidson said. “We connected well but sometimes got a little unlucky.”
The loss didn’t keep the players down for long. For their second game against Clear Lake, the Lady Mavs ended 3-0 with a goal shot by Davidson and two others shot by freshman Hannah Solano.
“It was so great to score the first goal of the tournament, especially because I haven’t played in a while,” Davidson said. “I’m so glad I’m able to be a part of the team this year.”
However, the team faced another loss in the final game of the tournament against Cypress Creek by a score of 2-1.
With a starting record of 1-2-0 for their season, the team still has a long schedule ahead of them.
“Our goals this year are to play hard no matter what and to be selfless,” Davidson said. “We are a team and we can’t win without each other.”
