Wrestling With Success
Mavericks take down Pflugerville
The wrestling team cruised to a 54-27 victory over Pflugerville Jan. 14, sustaining their stretch of dominance with an undefeated 5-0 record at home and a 10-3 record overall.
“In one match, I flipped a kid and won in 13 seconds,” senior Paul Choi said. “That was the quickest match I have ever won.”
As dominant as the victories have been, each and every member of the wrestling team firmly believes that maintaining success isn’t an easy task.
“We’re successful because we work hard and focus on what we need to do,” senior Leonard Moore-Jones said.
While any aspiration of such a magnitude certainly requires herculean dedication, this team just may be special enough to meet the expectations and ultimately exceed them. No holds barred, improvement and maturation are on the horizon.
“We are relatively inexperienced and right now we need to improve on toughness, cardio and finishing out the matches,” wrestling coach Huey Huynh said. “I’m not satisfied yet.”
