McNeil takes Westwood to the shed 24-7
The Mavericks played their annual game against the Westwood Warriors Oct. 8. Most students believe the idea that Westwood and McNeil are rival schools, but McNeil is actually the sister school of Westwood.
Each year McNeil competes against Westwood for the Round Rock Clothes Closet. This year the Warriors took the win for the clothes drive, but the Mavericks ended the night victorious on the gridiron with a final score of 24-7.
“We weren’t supposed to win against Westwood,” senior kicker Luis Balderas said. “They’ve beat us every year, we were just really motivated to win.”
Balderes contributed to the win by kicking two field goals.
“Coaches are pushing us really hard which sucks in practice but pays off during the game,” Balderess said.
Next game is Oct. 23 at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex at 7 p.m. against the Stony Point Tigers.
