A new album entitled “Because The Internet” by Childish Gambino was released on Dec. 10. The rapper/ actor/ comedian whose real name is Donald Glover, hadn’t release an album since 2011, with his debut “Camp.”

Both of these albums have something in common, there’s a story behind them. In “Camp” Gambino goes through a teen’s experience at a summer camp filled with love, tragedy and utter childishness. In “Because The Internet” he gets more creative than ever as the listener is catapulted into the story of a spoiled rich kid who grew up and is now having problems with realizing who he is, and who is surrounded by fake people. The character, played by Childish Gambino, takes refuge in the Internet, which explains the title.

Childish Gambino seems to get better with every song, as this album is better both artistically and production-wise than “Camp”. This album also features more singing than his other projects, and it only adds to the overall spaciness and daydreaming that may go on in the main character’s head. When I say this album is creative, I’m not kidding, there is actually a Website that has a screenplay that goes with the album that Childish Gambino wrote.

Overall this album gets a 9 out of 10. It’s Childish Gambino’s best effort and it, unlike most projects, lived up to all the hype. Standout songs are “Flight of the Navigator,” “3005,” “The Worst Guys,” “Worldstar,” and the last song on the album “Life: The Biggest Troll.”
