What a great time to be a Livie!
After three years, Olivia Rodrigo has finally announced her new album, which is set to be released on June 12th.
Her new album broke her four-letter album cover title pattern, following “Sour” in 2021 and “Guts” in 2023, now to “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” releasing later this year.
“I had the title of GUTS and SOUR at the beginning of the album-making process, but for this album, I’m kind of still finding it right now,” Rodrigo said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2025 when asked about her new upcoming album. “I have a few options that are twirling around in my brain. I have one that I’m feeling good about, and I think that’ll be the title, but I am not 100 percent positive yet. I’m not writing it in stone quite yet.”
On Mar. 13, Rodrigo teased her fans when a purple mural with a new “OR” logo appeared on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, hinting at the start of her third album era. Over time, the mural progressively repainted from purple to shades of pink, with the word “love” appearing by Mar. 20th. By her announcement date on Apr. 2nd, Rodrigo’s album titled was officially painted on the mural.
Her dynamic, evolving teaser campaign generated a buzz throughout her fan base as her transformation from previous album themes and introducing a new logo was equal and marked an ending to her purple era.
“It feels so different [than SOUR and GUTS]. Just by virtue of, I guess I’m a little older now, and I feel like I have more experience.” Rodrigo told Elle in October of 2025. “I think the tour and all the festivals were really educational for me and taught me a lot about who I am and what kind of music I want to make and what music I want to play for people. I’m taking all those lessons into the studio with me.”
