Chambers choir competed in the elite Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival (MadFest Competition) in San Antonio on Saturday, March 1. At the competition, chambers received an overall superior rating of a one and won the Performance of Distinction award, placing them in the top 15 choirs out of 60 who attended the competition.
“[Winning the award] definitely lifted up our spirits a lot,” senior Dominique Diaz said. “I think it’s going to help us a lot in the long term to work harder and want to do even better for our next competition that’s coming up where we’re also going to compete against some pretty good choirs.”
This is chambers’ second time ever to win the award at McNeil. The first time they won the Performance of Distinction award was two years ago in 2023.
“It was really sad because two years ago we got it, but last year we did get it,” junior Owen Rhea said. “We came back this year and I thought we did bad, but we still got it somehow. We crushed it and we got that Performance of Distinction. Everybody was just so happy, I felt so good afterwards.”
