The swim team raced for the last time of the school year at the Region Meet in Houston. Though none of the swimmers advanced to the State Meet, swimmers and their coaches were proud of how the season ended.
“The mighty Mavericks descended upon the city of Houston to once again show the world what kind of great swimming is going on here,” coach Johnny Foss said. “The Mavericks did not disappoint.”
The talented swimmers swam their best at the meet, with many students posting personal best times. The swimmers’ success was not shown through the scores because of the strong competition at the meet.
“We found ourselves in one of the fastest swim meets that will occur in the state of Texas this entire year,” Foss said. “In fact, at least one event was, top to bottom, faster than last year’s state finals.”
Even with the fierce competition, swimmers enjoyed swimming at the meet. Any chance to be in the water brings excitement to the team.
“The meet was a great experience,” sophomore Mackenzie Glava said. “I love traveling places with the team and swimming at new pools.”
Swimmers and coaches alike agreed that the meet was a good ending to a successful season.
“I am so proud of our team and their accomplishments this season,” Foss said. “They represented our school and community in the best possible fashion.”
