The boys’ basketball team’s season ended in the first round playoff matchup against Lake Travis. The Mavs opened with a big deficit early and were never able to recover in the 73-50 loss at Vandegrift High School.
Junior Trae Dilworth put in 17 points for the Mavs, and senior Corey Calbreath added 12 points to the cause.
The Mavs finished the season with an 18-16 record and yet another playoff appearance, their 17th playoff appearance in 21 years.
They lose five seniors to graduation, with two of them being starters. Next year’s team should be more athletic, with starters Dilworth, Kameron Teal and Terrance Johnson all returning. If Dilworth can play up to his potential next season, with solid contributions from other players, look for this team to be successful and possibly push for a district championship.
