Senior Zach Epstein received the Time Warner Cable Scholar Athlete of the Week award. Football opened doors for Epstein and taught him valuable time-management and teamwork skills.

Breaking through the banner, quarterback Hayden Cooper led the Mavericks onto the field at Kuemple Stadium in Pflugerville Halloween night.

During the game, Cooper threw 13 passes, completing nine of those, leading the Mavs to gain 136 yards. Wide receiver Tyler Clark caught one third of those passes, gaining 57 yards, with the longest gain of 30 yards. Jonathan Boozer followed right behind, catching two passes, gaining 30 yards, scoring a touchdown for the Mighty Mavs.

“Im proud to have kicked for McNeil,” kicker Jorge Burke said . “We never gave up on each other.”

Although McNeil might not always show its skill against other schools, they always show their pride and heart as a team.

“Obviously we’d like to see more wins on the board, but we’re headed in the right direction,” coach Howard McMahan said. “We have some good boys on our team.”
