Teamwork Pays Off

Varsity volleyball thrives in preseason, looks forward to district play

The varsity volleyball Lady Mavs started their season on the right track, winning 19 out of 30 matches. The girls have high hopes as the season progresses.  

“This year we are working better together,” junior Megan McCann said. “So far this season, we’ve been playing better.”

The team won second place at the Bastrop ISD tournament after beating McCallum by in two sets.

“A highlight of the season so far has been getting second at the Bastrop tournament,” junior Mikenzie Miksch said. “Also, we’ve have been playing better teams and doing well against them.”

Overall, the Lady Mavs have had a successful start, as they get ready for district.

“I hope we stay consistent throughout the rest of the season and win as many games as possible,” senior Ashley Windom said. “We also want to keep playing together as a team.”
