Girls lacrosse begins new season with tournament appearance

McNeil girls lacrosse is started and they won the first place in Aggieland

At the Aggieland Classic tournament Jan. 26 at Penberthy Rec Sports Complex at Texas A&M, the varsity girls lacrosse team finished with two wins and one loss to start off their season while the junior varsity team brought home the championship trophy.

“I’m so proud of our team and our coaches,” junior Elizabeth Cazes said. “We have a lot of great, talented people and I’m so happy to have a great start to our season.”

The varsity Mavericks took on the Knitros first and won 9-2 in an intense game. Next up, the girls played Klein. The Mavericks lost their opponent 3-10.

The final game, varsity played was against Rockwall. The Mavericks won, ending their quest to place in the tournament.

In record-setting tournament play, the JV went 5-0 at the Aggieland Classic.

Team members look forward to their first non-division game Friday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. at St. Michael’s in Austin.

“I’m super excited about the season, junior Alexis Munoz said. “We are getting more new girls this year and everyone is pumped for this season.”
