On Tuesday, Aug. 27, volleyball played Manor in their first district game, and the Mavs achieved their first program sweep of the season, with all three McNeil teams securing the win.
Starting the game off strong, the Mavs shut down Manor, ending the first set 25-11. Bringing the same energy into the second set, sophomore Brilyn Wilkerson brought on several necessary kills, ending the second set 25-12. Finally, for the much-needed win, the Mavs ended the third set 24-13.
“We fought our hardest and played well together,” Wilkerson said. “Our communication and energy were also really good, I felt really good getting 6 kills, that’s a big accomplishment as a sophomore on varsity.”
The Mavs will play again against Hutto on Friday, Sept. 6, at McNeil.
