The #23 ranked Maverick tennis team experienced a week of contrasting emotions, beginning with a hard-fought 7-12 L against #9 ranked Vandegrift last Tuesday night. Despite their best efforts, the Mavericks couldn’t overcome the higher-ranked opposition, but the team showed resilience and determination throughout the match.
However, the week ended on a high note as the team achieved a historic victory on Friday night, defeating Round Rock for the first time ever with an impressive 13-6 W. The team’s performance showcased their growth and potential, leaving fans optimistic about their future prospects.
“I’m really proud of all my teammates who tried their best and played their hardest to bring victory to the team,” senior tennis player Soyoung Cho said. “I felt even more excited after finding out that it was our first time winning against Round Rock since McNeil was established.”
With a renewed sense of confidence, the Maverick Tennis Team will look to build on their recent success as they continue the tennis season.
