Last Friday, Sept. 20 Varsity football faced the rival Round Rock Dragons for their homecoming game although they had a close first half, the Mavs were not able to pull off the win.
“Going into the game it felt good and we scored off the bat with defense,” Aden Taylor said. “Initially it started to go downhill when offense came onto the field with us not scoring the first or second drive.”
After the first half, the Mavs felt they lost a lot of momentum going into the third quarter and that could’ve been a big factor to the loss.
“There were a lot of drop passes,” Taylor said. “It ended up being a snowball effect. Last Friday, one thing happened and it led to another.”
Though it was a hard loss for the team the Mavs felt that the loss was a team effort, and all they can do is improve.
“It was the whole team, defense and offense,” Jarell Gary said. “Tonight instead of letting the energy go down we just need to keep our heads up and do the best we can as a team.”
