Varsity softball went against Manor on the Mustang’s field on Friday, March 18. The Lady Mavs were able to seal the win against the Mustangs with a final score of 24-12.
“Everyone was really hyped and everyone was just cheering each other on and overall in a really good mood,” junior first baseman Audrey Melnar said.
The Lady Mavs started the first inning off strong, scoring seven runs while smothering the Mustangs during fielding, holding them to one run. The second inning took a turn though, and this time the Mustangs got five runs to the Mavericks’ one.
“We started off the game with good momentum after a few really good hits and multiple runs,” Melnar said. “In the middle of the game, offensively, we started slowing down and not getting all those same runs in.”
After a stagnant second inning, the Lady Mavs picked up the pace for the rest of the game, outscoring the Mustangs for the last three innings. The game ended with eight out of the nine Lady Mav players getting two or more runs.
After defeating Manor, the Lady Mavs’ record is now 4-8, and will next travel to Cedar Ridge to play the Raiders on Tuesday, March 25.
