Too Much for Too Little

Enrique Iglesias “Sex and Love” tour.

With nine concerts left in Enrique Iglesias’s 12th tour “Sex and Love,” he came to Austin’s Frank Erwin Center with Pitbull on Feb. 7.

The tickets said “Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull” but it seemed more like Pitbull featuring Iglesias. The concert lasted four and a half hours however Iglesias only performed for around 45 minutes, but Pitbull performed for almost two hours. The rest of the time was spent on the opening act and setting up the stage after each performer.

Upon arrival to the concert, there were many people selling T-shirts on the highway. This made it difficult to get past the cars and people, because some people were stopping to buy them. Inside, there was a good variety of merchandise, however, the largest size was an XL that fit like a medium. Another downside to the concert was more than half the songs Pitbull sang were not completely sung by him. For the songs that were sung with someone else, the music video played in the background while Pitbull sung his lines.

Despite those negative parts of the concert, there were particular things that made up for it. There was a good variety of Enrique Iglesias songs, from his older songs like “Escape” to his newest song  “Bailando.” It was great to hear how his songs have progressed over the years.

There was also a chance to win backstage passes to have Enrique Iglesias play a few songs for you and your guest. When his final song, “I’m a Freak,” came on, giant balloons fell from the ceiling. The energy within the Frank Erwin Center rose with excitement as the balloons where hit from one person to the other. It was the perfect end to the concert.

Although Enrique Iglesias only performed for a short amount of time, the overall concert was entertaining and exciting.
