Mavs swim for wins
The swim and dive team headed to Dallas Nov. 17-18 to compete against 61 teams at North Zone TISCA for the biggest competition of the fall semester. The boys finished in fourth place and the girls placed seventh.
“They work extremely hard and have earned every ounce of recognition that comes their way,” head swim coach johnny Foss said.
The team posted 53 different season best swims and 49 different high school career personal best swims.
“I was really excited when I won because that’s one of the most important competitive meets ever,” senior Kaitlyn Freeman said.
The following individuals advanced to Finals on Saturday:
– All 12 relays
– Cameron Katzman – 100 freestyle and backstroke
– Ethan Gibbs – 100 and 200 freestyle
– Allie Freeman – 200 IM and 100 breaststroke
– Kayla Hess – 200 IM and 100 backstroke
– Fox Pope – 50 and 100 freestyle
– Richard Konig – 100 breaststroke and butterfly
– Daniel Sim – 100 breaststroke and butterfly
– Ian Frey – 200 freestyle
– Mauri Trevino – 100 butterfly
– Hannah Garcia – 100 butterfly
– Delaney Harris – 500 freestyle
– Delaney Estes – 500 freestyle
– Thomas Shomper – 100 backstroke
– Tori McMillian – 100 breaststroke
– Austine Do – 100 breaststroke
The following individuals medaled by finishing in the top three places:
– Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Kaitlyn Freeman, Allie Freeman, Alexandra Shamblin, McMillian) – third place
– Boys 400 Freestyle Relay (Katzman, Frey, Zachary Matula, Pope) – third place
– Boys 200 Freestyle Relay (Katzman, Sim, Frey, Pope) – second place
– Katzman – 100 Backstroke – second place
– Katzman – champion in the 100 Freestyle
