Soccer has always been a sport that McNeil is strong in, and the girls’ varsity soccer team is no exception. After a smooth tournament period, they kicked off this season with a spectacular 4-1 win against Stony Point.

After this win however, they experienced a little bit of a rough ride. They went through a string of hard games, losing 0-4 against Westwood, winning 2-0 against Pflugerville, and then losing once again 0-4 against Round Rock and 0-3 against Hendrickson.

“It’s always tough to lose, but we’re working to perfect how we work as a team so it doesn’t happen again,” junior Alex Ortiz said.

Despite this slight setback, the Lady Mavs recently brought their game back on Tuesday’s match against Stony Point, winning 1-0.

“We had a good win against Stony Point Tuesday night and it helped us maintain our spot in the standings,” Ortiz said. “Hopefully, it helps push us further on our trip to playoffs.”
