Undefeated Boys’ Varsity Soccer Aiming for District Title

Boys’ varsity soccer players are on their way towards reclaiming the district title they had two years ago. The team is currently leading with 20 points and a record of 6-0-2, after their latest game with rival Westwood, in which they tied 1-1.

Despite being undefeated so far, the team still needs to keep working hard in order to remain at the top of the district for the rest of the season.

“We just need to to continue to work on playing an entire 80 minutes with mental focus,” coach Justin Sharrock said. “Silly mistakes can cost you especially in a low scoring game like soccer. One mistake can win or lose a game. We have the ability to score goals, so we will continue to work on creating an abundance of meaningful opportunities and finishing them off.”

Specifically, senior Alejandro Labastida has stood out by scoring the only goal in both of the two latest games against Westwood and Stony Point, but overall, all of the boys take part in making the team so strong.

“This is an amazing group of talented guys,” Sharrock said. “They truly love the game and play it with class and style. It has been an enjoyable year thus far and I hope to make a great run in playoffs.”
