Lady Mavs Finish Season Strong

Although the district season was rough at times for the Lady Mavericks basketball team, the girls wrapped up the season strongly.

After experiencing a few losses, they played against Hendrickson on Jan. 14 and emerged victorious, with quarterly scores of 9-12, 25-7, 17-16 and 18-23 for a final score of 69-58. This win was followed by another win against Cedar Ridge with a fantastic score of 84-76.

The Lady Mavs did stumble a little bit afterwards, going through a 66-70 loss to Stony Point, 71-63 win against Westwood, and a disappointing 41-67 loss against Pflugerville.

However, their Jan. 31 game against Round Rock was the one that really mattered, as it was crucial in determining their potential advancement to playoffs. Fortunately, the girls pulled through with a great performance, making quarterly scores of 19-12, 15-20, 18-9 and 20-24 for a 72-65 win.

Round Rock High School girls basketball also won their final district game, which meant that the Lady Mavs had to play the Lady Dragons once more to determine who advanced to the playoffs. The Lady Mavericks fell to Round Rock in a close game Saturday, after it was postponed to bad weather.
