Season Ends for Lady Mavs Basketball

The Lady Mavs basketball team ended its season Feb. 10 against Stony Point High School with a final score of 48-58. The girls unfortunately did not make it to playoffs.

While the girls wish they had made it to playoffs, they are proud of these past games.

“We could have done better,” head coach Jennifer Moore said. “It’s always disappointing to not make playoffs, but we improved over this season and the team always had the ability to play well and give 100 percent.”

While the team had some rough games over this season, the last game showed how far the girls had come.

“We improved,” Moore said. “We played our offense well, took our time, made good shots, and had a good defense.”

The team members who will not be returning this year are happy with the season and their last game.

“Everybody gave it their all because it was our last game,” senior Diamond Caro said. “We did our best throughout the season and we bonded on and off the court.

Players who plan to return to the team next year are equally proud but hope to have more wins in their next season.

“We never gave up this season but we could have done better,” sophomore Brianna Colvin said. “I am excited to play on the team again next year.”
